THE GUARDIAN
‘Besides the breads and pastries, it (Judges) sells an intoxicating jumble of goodies. There’s a small, well-chosen cheese section, a mini-meat section, fruit and veg in baskets, coffee from Monmouth Coffee Shop, apple juice from Oakwood farms, Steenbergs herbs and spices and shelf after shelf of packets, pots and packages, all tip-top organic.’
Matthew Fort, Guardian Weekend Magazine. |

THE INDEPENDENT
‘A traditional bakery that has been taken over by the founder of Green & Black’s chocolate and converted to organic artisan baking. Since then it has won awards for its sourdough and other breads. The bakery’s own sausage rolls are excellent, according to Dan Lepard, ‘made with pork from a farm sweetly named Hen on the Gate.’ There’s lots of traditional British fare made without additives, but with the utmost devotion.’ |
