From 21st-28th February 2009, fashionistas can find award-winning macaroons, cakes - and the world’s only organic pink meringue pigs - at TOPSHOP, where we have a special ‘pop-up shop’ for Fashion Week.

Good news: you can also find a wide range of goodies (on an ongoing basis) at Selfridges in the Food Hall. The macaroons recently won the Cakes, Pastries, Confectionery & Biscuits category in the Soil Association Organic Food Awards 2008, with the ciabbata bread and our incomparable stollen Christmas cake voted runners-up. is owned and run by Green & Black’s founders Craig Sams and Josephine Fairley, with Soil Association award-winning baker Emmanuel Hadjiandreou bringing his skills to baking sensational bread and patisserie. (Emmanuel previously worked for Gordon Ramsay, at The Savoy, and at Flour Power).
The bakery was ‘reinvented’ in 2005, when we set about converting all the traditional baked goods - from jam tarts to white bloomers, sausage rolls to Madeira cakes and those pink meringue pigs (almost 200 recipes, in all) - to Soil Association organic status. In addition, we introduced a fabulous selection of high-quality artisan ‘slow breads’, including Country Sourdough, Wholewheat Sourdough and 100% Rye Bread…
Now, we are starting to offer our delicious creations to a wider audience of food-lovers. The food-hunters at Selfridges have already hand-picked breads and cakes to offer to discerning bread- and cake-lovers in London. The selected breads are allowed to rise naturally, without added yeast, for a minimum of 18 hours, making for exceptional flavour and long-lasting freshness, then hand-crafted and baked to perfection. (After you’ve tasted Judges’ bread, there’s no going back to the fluffy stuff.)

We are delighted to have been awarded ‘Best New Store’ and ‘Best Small Organic Store’ in the Soil Association Industry Awards - voted for by an expert ‘mystery shopper’ who visited dozens of shops before declaring the winner.
